New exhibition display system can provide a custom stand for the price of a shell scheme
An exciting and innovative new wall display system developed by BKAYDesign now challenges the boundaries of space and how to use it. The system introduces lightweight flexibility that packs down easily and therefore provides affordable airfreight options. The system is available in either a gloss or satin finish that greatly enhances graphics. Thanks to this imaginative concept an exhibitor can now have the impact of a custom stand for little more than the cost of a shell scheme stand.

BEST STAND AWARD: APPEA 2010
ConocoPhillips and Origin Energy

This highly prestigious honour is paid to the exhibitor who delivers the most interactive and visually interesting exhibit.
This is the third year BKAYDesign has designed and built the ConocoPhillips exhibition with this year’s outstanding feature being the innovative safety demonstration “The LNG Story”.
This interactive lunchtime presentation delivered daily by visiting American LNG expert,
Peter Micciche proved extremely popular with delegates and guests.
Set to the backdrop of educational graphic illustrations, specifically developed by BKAYDesign for “The LNG Story”, Peter set about showing viewers how safe LNG is - in a fun, interesting and interactive format.
Exhibit Details
The ConocoPhillips custom design exhibit had a footprint of 6mx9m featuring a major branding wall housing backlight graphics depicting ConocoPhillips history in Australia. This wall was also an effective storage area for collateral, LNG show bags and merchandise. The raised floor, finished in polyurethane enabled all services to be run underneath whilst providing a clean, safe and practical finish.
The central table provided a casual meeting area for multiple visitor groups as well as easy access to collateral and merchandise for giveaways.
Adjacent to the main exhibit area was the “LNG Story” exhibit, a portable Octaquick system comprised of interlocking polls with printed cloth graphic panels. This lightweight system is easily set up and transported in road cases with interchangeable graphics.
A specially designed mobile, custom built pod, featuring key messages and graphic elements relating to ConocoPhillips Australian projects was a key attraction to many important stakeholders.

2 STOREY IN 3D

Chevron’s presence at this years APPEA took on another dimension with a number of innovations.
Health and wellbeing themed the hospitality and as a result, freshly squeezed natural juices flowed throughout the day. Flavours included watermelon and strawberry, passionfruit, mango and pineapple, carrot and celery, plus an old favourite, apple and orange.
Health conscious APPEA guests consumed an incredible 602 cups each day. Over at the café section, skinny lattes were equally impressive with 450 cups per day being provided by our local barrista. Healthy snacks were in high demand ranging from apple and cinnamon muffins, and fresh fruit at breakfast, to smoked salmon and dill quiche, ricotta and spinach pastries, on the lunch menu.
Once stomachs were full and the mind sharp, guests tested their skills on the Energyville game where daily prizes were up for grabs, including the popular Sports Wii.
The 2-storey stand towered over the exhibition floor with the upper level housing a fully functional audiovisual meeting room. Surrounding the perimeter of the lower level, were over 90 Cooktown orchids (the floral emblem of Queensland) adding a colourful local touch.
Capturing the imagination of many of the delegates was the leading edge 3D presentation of the Gorgon Project. This impressive flythrough enabled the viewer to take control and program the journey through playstation-like controls. This virtual reality tour gave participants a first hand realistic experience of what the Gorgon Project plant will actually look like. A special 3D screen and state of the art projectors along with 3D glasses ensure the realism of the whole experience.
EXHIBIT DETAILS
The Chevron custom designed exhibit had a footprint of 6m x 9m which included an upper level air-conditioned meeting room with audiovisual equipment, boardroom table and chairs for 8 people.
The lower level comprised of a fully functional hospitality servery area including sink, fridges, coffee machine and storage.
Three 50 inch monitors displayed the latest progress on the Wheatstone and Gorgon projects plus the new Chevron Corporate television commercial.
Display panels strategically placed, outlined Chevron’s commitment and history in the development of energy in Australia.

SCHLUMBERGER’S “VISIONAIRE”

The exhibit was designed to maximise the floor space attracting key stakeholders to help them understand first hand the latest technology and expertise Schlumberger has to offer.
3 double-sided pod towers, branded for each segment and equipped with LCD monitors and hardrive connectivity, outlined electronically the technology Schlumberger delivers. The “Visionaire” is a regular feature and is designed for group presentations. Conducted on the hour, these interactive discussions further detail Schlumberger’s product line and innovative technology.
The central café bar lightens the load providing delegates with hospitality, the best in coffee and a gathering point.
EXHIBIT DETAILS
The exhibit 6m x 12m footprint this provided access for the 2km of wiring required to operate the LCD and computer systems which are an integral part of the exhibit.
The three double-sided pod towers produced from MDF laminate, included PC hardrives and 32 inch LCD screens.
The “Visionaire” room had a footprint of 3m x 2m and a height of 3m constructed from a lightweight insulated wall panel. The structure was then fully encapsulated in graphic medium.

INAUGURAL HMAS Sydney COMMEMORATIVE FOOTBALL MATCH

Sydney Swans vs. West Coast Eagles - Sydney Cricket Ground. April 24, 2010.
The Finding Sydney Foundation, the Australian Football League and the Royal Australian Navy in conjunction with the Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles Football Clubs presented the inaugural Annual HMAS Sydney (II) Commemorative Football Match will be held on Saturday 24th April 2010 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Some background to HMAS Sydney (11)
HMAS Sydney (II) was a proud and distinguished fighting ship so it was with a profound sense of loss that the nation learned that she had been sunk with all 645 crew in a mutually destructive engagement with the German Auxiliary Cruiser Kormoran on 19 November 1941, some 112 miles West of Shark Bay, Western Australia. The tragic fate of Sydney and her crew remained a mystery until the Finding Sydney Foundation found her on 16 March 2008 sitting upright on the ocean floor at a depth of 2,500 metres.
Hosted in 2010 by the Sydney Swans, the Match will be held annually between the Sydney Swans, representing her home port, and the West Coast Eagles, representing the State of her final operations and resting place. The Match is in memory of the sacrifice made by Sydney’s men and by their families.
BKAYDesign and the Finding The Sydney Foundation
The HMAS Sydney (II) Trophy has been donated to the AFL by the Finding Sydney Foundation and will be flown in to the 'Bounce- Down Circle' by a Navy helicopter. In addition, The Finding Sydney Foundation is also providing a perpetual trophy for the player judged as Best on Ground for each match. This latter trophy is based on the casing of a 76mm shell fired by the present and fourth warship to be named HMAS Sydney. As HMAS Sydney(II)'s short wartime history is one of triumph against the odds; of courage and ingenuity in adversity; of free and independent spirits who became a team formed by the bonds of mateship and necessity, the trophy will be awarded to "the player who showed the greatest courage and skill in adversity, teamwork and fighting spirit."
BKAYDesign’s involvement with the Finding The Sydney Foundation project dates back to the early formative period - through to the present day. Our initial brief was to develop a number of key areas including external affairs, branding, display material, fund raising, collateral and strategic issues. We continue the association with the design and fabrication of the perpetual player’s trophy and this ongoing involvement continues to be a significant and moving project for our company to be involved in and one that makes the team at BKAYDesign extremely proud.

The Sailor’s Hat image was developed as the linking device behind this project and was integrated into the various elements of the communications strategy and the collateral material we produced.

LNG16. April 16 – 21 at Oran, Algeria
Algeria has emerged on the world stage in spectacular fashion to host the largest event of its kind - LNG16, at Oran. Held every three years and dedicated to the liquefied natural gas industry, the LNG conference (this year LNG16) was the star event on the world LNG stage. The complications brought about by the flight disruptions caused by the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull Volcano resulted in many delegates being unable to attend LNG16. But despite the Volcano and the lower than normal attendance, it still provided a valuable forum for over 200 exhibitors who attended. BKAYDesign was an official Custom Stand Designer for the event. Held in the new state-of-the- art, Oran Convention Centre, LNG16 provided a practical demonstration of the Perth company’s ability to deliver outstanding, cut-through design capability - anywhere in the world.
Sonangol – a new member of the World LNG Exporter’s Club
Undoubtedly the stand- out exhibitor at LNG16 was Sonangol – a corporation partially owned by the Angolan Government and charged with managing hydrocarbon resources in that country. One of the largest oil producers on the African continent, Angola (and by definition, Sonangol) is new to the international LNG market and is seeking to use LNG16 as the launch pad to define the company on the world stage. This they have done in spectacular style!

The Sonangol stand at LNG16 set new standards with a very powerful centrepiece that involved a gigantic centrepiece featuring a globe of the world that carried the statement; “Angola – a new member of the world LNG Exporter’s Club”.
Some facts about the Sonangol stand
• The globe centre-piece was 4.5 metres diameter
• Constructed in sections
• Joins following the latitude and longitude (at the angle of the Earth’s tilt.
• CAD designed and cut PVC skeleton
• Faces of the globe were vacuum formed in Melbourne, Australia.
