Kim Kay _ Managing Director
Kim has been with the company since its inception and rebranded it as BKAYDesign in 1999. As the Managing Director, Kim is responsible for the overall operations of the company and the creative concepts and designs in each project.
Kim has a wealth of experience in design, marketing and promotions. He has worked in television, radio and print, and understands the advantages and constraints of each medium. Within the media and design industries, Kim has held a variety of roles at Creative Campaign Advertising, Murdoch Press and Jackson West Advertising. In the role of Marketing and Promotions Manager for STW9 and PMFM (92.9), Kim oversaw the publicity and promotions department and handled all aspects of public and industry image management. During this time, he was responsible for a variety of projects, including programming requirements, on-air programme launches and special events, such as America's Cup, Grand Prix and International Golf.
Anton Errington-Wood _ Account Executive
Anton is responsible for new business development and managing key accounts. Anton was born in Kenya but moved to Boston, MA at a young age. After finishing his education he worked for Pepsico International in the Brand Development and Marketing Division and travelled extensively in Africa, the US and Europe with the company working on Marketing Campaigns, Exhibitions and Product launches. Anton has over 15 years experience in advertising, marketing ,exhibitions and the promotions field, he is able to manage and coordinate client briefs from conception to delivery. His key strengths include: Strategic Planning, Project Management, Promotions and delivering projects on time within budget.
Richard Pyett _ Business Development Manager
Richard is a key account executive at BKAYDesign. His experience includes initial evaluation and conceptualisation, strategic planning, media buying, marketing and logistical management.
Richard is one of Perth's most experienced exhibition professionals with over 15 years industry experience. Richard has been involved in the management and marketing of over 100 consecutive events in Perth and throughout Australia, including flagship events in Perth such as the Ideal Home Show, the EveryWoman Expo and the opening event at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, WA on Show.
Oliver Millin _ Exhibition Project Manager
Oliver has been working on exhibition, museum and interiors projects for almost 10 years and has a wealth of experience handling projects across the world including the UK, Europe, Middle east, North America, Australia and Asia. Bringing various skills to the table including project management, estimating, experience of manufacture, construction and CAD drafting he is able to use this wide diversity of skills to get involved highly with all projects to ensure a professional outcome.
Benny Ong _ Exhibition Coordinator
Benny is responsible for coordinating between the sales and operations team on project delivery. He is also responsible for sourcing suppliers, managing contracts and ensuring quality control on stand builds. Benny is also involved in planning and managing events, and providing logistics coordination for all exhibition projects.
Benny has over 7 years of international experience in the hospitality and events industry. He has participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics managing prestigious accounts such as the International Olympic Committee hospitality centres and Lenovo Pavilion Showcase as an AD with ETG Staging Connections. Prior to joining BKayDesign in 2010, Benny has worked in the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre as an F&B Retail Manager managing the retail food and beverage team on all exhibitions and retail events happening in the Centre.
Alex Ross _ Exhibition Operations Manager
Alex has a background of over 35 years in the construction industry with over 10 of those years spent in exhibitions. His wealth of knowledge in the planning and construction of lightweight, transportable exhibitions has seen him gain valuable recognition in his field amongst his peers. Alex is constantly researching products and manufacturing processes to bring the exhibitions of the future into todays market. On a day to day basis Alex also manages the warehouse and workshop facilities, ensuring his team work to the highest standard to enable BKAYDesign to meet every clients individual needs.
Sean Harris _ Production Manager
Sean is responsible for the management and procurement of print, to ensure and reflect quality of design. Included in this role are preparing quotes, budgets and cost projections, managing the production process via timelines and milestones, and ensuring sufficient resources are available to complete the project on time. Sean is also responsible for quality control of the production processes and systems. Throughout the process, Sean reports and updates the production expenses and manages the cost of supplies. Sean also plays a role in the human resources area, carrying out staff interviews and reviews, as well as organising staff functions and social gatherings.
Sean has 17 years of experience in the design field, covering many facets of the industry. His career highlights include working as a Brand and Advertising Manager, owning a design and graphics agency, and managing a company manufacturing point-of-sale materials.
Sean has been part of the BKAYDesign team since 2008 and due to his experience, the production of Chevron's Wheatstone Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Review and Management Programme (EIS/ERMP) was a success.
Ian O'Toole _ Art Director
Ian is responsible for concept and design development, exhibition design,
3D modelling and animation, illustration, compositing and video effects, video editing and copy writing. As Art Director, Ian oversees the quality of work produced in the BKAYDesign art room and ensures effective allocation of resources by coordinating with the Account Executives, Traffic Coordinator and Production Manager. Ian is also responsible for the development and maintenance of the art room systems and procedures.
Ian started his career in Ireland, working as a freelance illustrator and designer for a number of advertising agencies and design studios in Dublin. Subsequently, he has worked throughout Ireland, Europe and USA as a designer, illustrator and motion graphics artist for many creative studios. Ian's personal work has included writing and illustrating children's books, shooting and animating a short film, and exhibiting paintings.
Ian joined the BKAYDesign team in 2006 and has played a role in many successful projects. Ian designed the prize-winning exhibit for SPFA at the 2008 Australian Oil and Gas Conference. For Chevron Australia's Ten Tenets Campaign, Ian filmed, animated and composited ten short promotional videos. Ian was involved in the pitch of the winning design and fly-through for the Post 1945 Gallery for the Army Museum of Western Australia. He then developed the design through to completion and produced four 3D animated interpretations of key battles.
Mike Winter _ Senior Interactive/Graphic Designer
Mike's responsibilities include concept development, 3D modelling, floor plan and elevation drawings, and interior design. He is also responsible for pre-press and art works, and art direction for photo shoots. Mike also creates flash animations and web sites, and is responsible for the company's computing resources.
Mike majored in corporate identity and web design when studying for his advanced diploma. His passions include interactive design, exhibition design and brand development; and he has been involved in designing for a wide range of industries and products.
Since joining BKAYDesign in 2007, Mike has been involved in exhibitions at APPEA 2009 and 2010, organising Chevron Australia's Gorgon Project launch and producing material for Chevron Australia's operational excellence programme, Ten Tenets Football League.
Claire Mutton _ Senior Graphic Designer
Claire's responsibilities include developing concepts for press advertising, developing corporate identity designs and brands. She also produces designs for print, including brochures, magazines, posters, exhibition panels and stationery. Claire's project management functions cover a project from the initial brief through to final proof signoff from the printers. She is also responsible for checking that brand guidelines are adhered to, without stifling the creative edge.
Claire has international experience, having worked in both Vancouver and London and now has over 7 years experience working as a graphic designer.
The largest project Claire has worked on, since joining BKAYDesign in 2007, was an 8,000 page document, from initial design layout through to bound product. The process ran smoothly due to the in-house procedures. Claire has also rebranded a lifestyle village, including producing all the merchandise required for the launch.
Simon Wright _ Senior Graphic Designer
Simon's responsibilities include graphic design, branding, illustration, layout and concepts.
Simon has worked in a range of communication organisations. He has also worked in a number of key design studios, as well as above- and below-the-line advertising agencies. Simon has an extensive portfolio of work that demonstrates his commitment to all aspects of the discipline, including visual language, colours, textures and fabrics.
Since joining the team in 2010, Simon has been sharing his great expertise and specialty in branding and brand management with BKAYDesign and their clients.
Emma Jones _ Traffic/Media Coordinator
Emma joined the BKAYDesign team in 2011 and is responsible for the trafficking of jobs through the design studio, media placement and assisting the Account Executives and the production department.
Before joining BKAYDesign Emma worked as a Project Manager for a specialist design and production company in England producing temporary Point of Sale displays for a number of blue chip clients such as Boots the Chemist UK working on cosmetic brands such as No7, 17, Natural Collection, Ruby & Millie. Prior experience includes working at a Reprographics company managing blue chip clients such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, Peugeot Cars, Jaguar Cars and TESCO supermarket.
Jackie Knopjes _ Financial Controller
Jackie is responsible for the financial, payroll and quality assurance areas at BKAYDesign. Jackie plays a significant role in planning and setting budgets, and statistically monitoring the performance of both the company and individual projects.
Jackie brings with her a wealth of experience from a variety of manufacturing and services industries in South Africa and New Zealand.
Jackie joined BKAYDesign in 2010 and is successfully managing this multi-faceted role.
